Author Guidelines
Authors submitting articles to Jurist Academia are expected to follow the guidelines below to ensure compliance with the journal's editorial standards.
1. Eligible Contributors
Jurist Academia welcomes contributions from various parties, including:
- Legal Academics: Lecturers and legal researchers.
- Legal Practitioners: Lawyers, judges, notaries, prosecutors, and other legal professionals.
- Policy Makers: Decision-makers in the public sector related to legal issues.
- Researchers from Research Institutions and Think Tanks.
- Law Students (undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs).
- Human Rights and Social Justice Activists.
2. General Requirements
- Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review in any other journal.
- Manuscripts may be written in proper Indonesian or English.
- The article topics must align with the journal’s scope, covering law, social justice, human rights, and legal reform.
3. Manuscript Format
- Authors must use the official journal template, available for download from the sidebar of this site.
- The recommended manuscript length is between 7,000 – 10,000 words, including references, footnotes, tables, and figures. Submissions slightly exceeding or below this range may still be considered if they demonstrate sufficient analytical depth and scholarly contribution.
- Footnote-based referencing is required, primarily following the Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition (Full Note). Authors may also use other recognized academic citation styles such as Bluebook or OSCOLA, provided that the footnote system is consistently applied throughout the manuscript. Minor formatting adjustments may be made by the Editor during the final production stage to ensure consistency in the published version.
4. Manuscript Structure

- Author(s) and affiliation(s)
- Abstract (150–250 words) and Keywords (3–5)
- Introduction
- Methodology (if the article presents original research)
- Analysis and Discussion
- Conclusion (and Recommendations, if applicable)
- References
5. Submission Process
- Authors must register an account in the OJS system and submit manuscripts online.
- All communications regarding review and revision processes will be conducted through the OJS system.
6. Publication Ethics
- Authors are responsible for the originality of their work and must accurately cite all sources.
- Any indication of plagiarism will result in rejection or retraction of the published article.
- All articles must comply with recognized academic publication ethics standards.
7. Editor Assignment (Optional)
To ensure that submitted manuscripts are reviewed by editors with relevant subject expertise, Jurist Academia assigns editors based on the article’s specific field of study.
Authors may propose a preferred editor whose expertise aligns with the topic of their manuscript. Such suggestions can be submitted in the Comments for the Editor field during the OJS submission process.
Author suggestions are non-binding. The final decision on editor assignment rests solely with the Editorial Board, taking into consideration expertise, editor availability, and the need to maintain objectivity and editorial independence.
